Patras Carnival

Carnival is the season which precedes the 40 days of fasting that leads up to Easter. This year, it takes place from January 17 until February 19 (Clean Monday). The Greek city of Patras is known for having one of the best celebrations, but celebrations take place throughout all of Greece. In Patras, there are many events, including parades, hidden treasure hunts, balls and a children’s carnival. Decorated cars and colorful papier-mâché figures fill the streets for a weekend of parades and parties.  This year, visit your favorite Greektown Chicago restaurants and merchants to celebrate.
