Join us at Taste of Greektown this weekend!
Greektown welcomes its popular Taste of Greektown festival back to the neighborhood on Friday, August 27 through Sunday, August 29 along Halsted Street from Adams to Van Buren.
Our acclaimed Greek restaurants are the stars of the show, including 9 Muses Bar & Grill (315 S. Halsted Street), Artopolis Bakery, Cafe and Agora (306 S. Halsted Street), Athena Restaurant (212 S. Halsted Street), Mr. Greek Gyros (234 S. Halsted Street) and Spectrum Bar & Grill (233 S. Halsted Street). In addition, festival vendors include Greektown’s 100-year-old Athenian Candle Co. (300 S. Live music and entertainment at Taste of Greektown include Hellas 2000 on the festival main stage, performing traditional and new Greek music daily from 4-10 p.m. In addition, local DJs and bands will perform on the festival’s second stage throughout the weekend. The 4th annual Gyro Eating Contest sponsored by Devanco Foods takes over the second stage on Saturday night, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. Interested participants can sign up on-site at the festival that Saturday at 4 p.m. at a table located adjacent to the second stage.
The Greektown Chamber of Commerce presents the 31st annual Taste of Greektown festival with additional support from Greektown SSA #16. The festival will be open Friday, Aug. 27 from 4-10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 28 from Noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 29 from Noon-10 p.m. An optional $5 donation is suggested for attendees.
Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood has been the epicenter of the city’s acclaimed Greek dining scene for decades, located along Halsted Street for 60 years. The neighborhood still has the largest concentration of Greek restaurants in Chicago and many new establishments and remains anchored by its celebration of heritage, community, and history. In addition, many restaurants and retail stores in Greektown are family-owned businesses that have been open for decades.
