Contemporary Artists Respond to Homer’s Odyssey
The Odyssey Reimagined brings together contemporary artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, and textiles, and sound, each responding to the Odyssey. Nearly 3,000 years later, the story continues to speak to us because the experiences at its heart—homecoming, belonging, love, loyalty, adversity, and the consequences of the choices we make—remain deeply human.
Each generation has returned to the story from a different place and perspective, and these artists continue that tradition, inviting us to do the same.
The National Hellenic Museum’s work is about connecting past and present and finding the ties that bind us together across generations and cultures.
