New Sculpture Debuts in Greektown

The sculpture "Nautilus" was moved to Monroe and Halsted in Greektown late last week.

GREEKTOWN — West Loopers making their weekly grocery trip to Mariano’s or Whole Foods might notice a new art addition in the neighborhood.

“Nautilus,” a seven-foot aluminum sculpture, debuted at the corner of Monroe and Halsted streets late last week.

The sculpture, crafted by Chicago artist Suzanne Horwitz, was brought to Greektown under the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit program. Greektown Special Service Area No. 16 approved the installation of the sculpture, said Rod Burch, executive director of West Central Association.

This is the first sculpture installed under the program in the West Loop, Burch said.
