Save the Date- Greek Flag Raising Ceremony

Join Greektown Chicago and local Hellenic-American organization, ENOSIS Group, in celebrating Greek Independence Day on March 25 with a festive flag raising ceremony. The event, taking place from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the Richard J. Daley Center (50 W. Washington Street) near the flag poles and Picasso sculpture, will raise the Greek flag in honor of Greece’s Independence.

The event will kick-off with the national anthem, sung by Mariana Veneri. Ekaterina Demakis, of the Consul General of Greece in Chicago, will raise the Greek flag above Daley Center Plaza. Then, dignitaries will lay wreaths near the Daley Center eternal flame, followed by a minute of silence for Fallen Freedom Fighters. The Honor Guard for the event will be made up of local Greek schools and Hellenic organizations, with the Athena Greek School singing a patriotic song.

The second half of the ceremony will be held in the Daley Center lobby with a stage and seating, and remarks from keynote speakers including WGN-TV’s Andrea Darlas and George Reveliotis, J.D., chairman of the 2019 Hellenic Parade, and Anastasia Spiridis, president of the Pontian Greek Society of Chicago.

All are welcome and more information can be found at www.enosisgroup.org.
