Update: Taste of Greektown – Gyro Eating Contest

Taste of Greektown is just around the corner! The annual festival will take place Friday, August 25 2017 (4 p.m.-11 p.m.), Saturday, August 26 2017 (noon-11 p.m.) and Sunday, August 27 2017(noon-11 p.m.) on the 400 block of South Halsted in the heart of Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood. Returning for the 28^th year, food and spirits from neighborhood eateries will be the main attraction.

Gyro Eating Contest

The fest’s second annual Gyro Eating Contest will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and will be open to men and women 21 years of age and older. Participation is limited to the first eight individuals who sign up on-site between 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon near the fest’s north entertainment stage.

The winner will receive a $250 Visa gift card (runner-up gets a $100 gift card). Taste of Greektown participating neighborhood restaurants include Ambassador Public House, Artopolis, Athena, Mr. Greek Gyros, 9 Muses Bar & Grill, Roditys, Santorini, Spectrum Bar & Grill and Zeus Gyros. A $5 gate donation will benefit the Chicago Greektown Chamber of Commerce.
