Update from the SSA #16 – Extended Security Program & Construction Update

Important neighborhood updates from the SSA #16 and Greektown Chicago…

Safety and security are our top priority. The SSA #16 commissioners have decided to extend the security program. This program, in conjunction with AGB Investigative Services, Inc., provides uniformed armed security guards in and around the neighborhood. This extension continues the 24 hours of weekly security coverage, and aims to ensure the safety of patrons and residents.

Neighborhood construction of the Jane Byrne Interchange Reconstruction Project is scheduled to continue. The information below regarding closures and detours will help you avoid construction headaches:

• Van Buren Street will be closed between Halsted Street and Des Plaines Street
  • Eastbound traffic: route north on Halsted Street, east on Jackson Boulevard, south on Des Plaines Street back to Van Buren Street
  • Westbound traffic: route south on Des Plaines Street, west on Harrison Street, north on Racine Avenue. back to Van Buren Street
